not a light leak

by matt

Here’s a 35mm Kodak Ektar 100 negative photographed and processed using my current workflow. I’ve not cropped anything out in order to show the anomaly on the top edge of the negative. It’s not a light leak because I’d see it on all exposures (and I don’t), and all things considered, the seals on my OM-1 seem pretty good. I suspect that the negative strip wasn’t 100% flat on the light box when I photographed it with my DSLR and this resulted in some light sneaking in from underneath the edge of it. After processing, the colour of it looks the same as that which surrounds the perfs (film perforations used for transport of the film through the camera). Quite a cool analogue photography effect, though. But not a light leak :-)
