I’ve recently got a Google Pixel XL phone. It has the most amazing camera. Until very recently (and it has only just been beaten by one point), it had been given the highest ever score for a mobile device by dxomark. I’m still getting used to it and what it can do, but here’s a straight ‘off-camera’ shot in full HDR+ mode. Zero filtering. Zero image manipulation. Just upload and post to this blog entry. This is quite a tricky scene to capture with shadows in the boat hull, reflections, high contrast and a bright, bright sky. The Pixel handles it brilliantly. It likely would have taken me at least three exposures, some image stacking/blending processing time on the computer to get a resultant image even close to this. The Pixel gets it right in a second. Incredible.
