moonrise over Dunstanburgh Castle

by matt

The last shot of my roll of Portra 400. I waited and waited. Composition was all ready. No need to move camera or tripod. Decision was made. Meter the scene, adjust camera settings and shoot. Apart from being an absolutely incredible camera, one of the brilliant things about the Makina is that the aperture adjustment isn’t stepped. It is fluid and totally smooth, giving you full, unlimited range from f/2.8 to f/22. This is perfect for when small adjustments make all the difference. I was able to nail the exposure as recommended by the Sekonic here. I still have to remind myself that this was taken on film.

This is the last of the medium format shots from our holiday in Northumberland. The camera has truly captured the magic of the place and our time there this Autumn. We will return.

Next up, some 35mm film highlights from the holiday… Stay tuned…
