Honister Slate Mine is well worth a visit if you’re in Keswick. Granted, it’s probably about a half hour drive from there, but the views and winding roads are a treat, and the visitor centre in the mine itself is fascinating. This is an old dilapidated wall just before the steep descent back down to the mine, where we started the walk about six hours earlier. The sun was setting and the light was fading. I had one more shot left on my roll of Portra 160 and I decided this was it. Walking Great Gable (this time in good weather!) was one of the most enjoyable and satisfying photo / walk trips so far. Hope you’ve enjoyed the photos. There will be lots more medium format landscape photography to come now that theĀ Makina is fixed. Not that it’s limited to landscape photography, you know – it’s just that focusing it takes time.
