slowing it down

by matt

I’ve only tried Kodak Ektar 100 once before, and that was with the OM-1 when I was self-scanning my negatives…and I wasn’t exactly ecstatic with the results. Apart from being a complete novice at film photography and DIY scanning with a digital SLR, I actually found using the film quite difficult. At ASA 100 it needs a lot of light, and to get a nice amount of depth of field in anything but bright sunshine, you really need a tripod. So I thought, now the Makina is in full working order I’ll buy some and see what it’s like on Medium Format, and I’ll try my best to take things slow(er) using my tripod. Ektar 100 is traditionally a landscape film. It delivers lovely colours when properly exposed, minimal grain and a good amount of detail. Let’s see what my results are like… Here’s the first taken in a woodland not too far from here on sunny afternoon.
