sunny 16

The new addition to the camera collection has no batteries, no auto-focus (none of my film cameras have that!), no bells or whistles or anything that might be considered remotely ‘modern’ by 1970’s standards. To gauge how much light you need to take a photo, you can do it two ways – (1) guess or (2) use a light meter. There are situations where I use (2) but I’m getting much better with (1) simply by following the sunny 16 rule. Adding a stop of light (therefore over exposing by at least one stop) helps too. It’s a lot of fun shooting with a mechanical Leica IIIf from 1952 :-)
